Well, another exciting day, but then, what day isn’t?! Got some curtains cut out, though the material wasn’t the easiest to cut being that it’s Rayon – manmade! Am trying to get caught up on that order or request so I can get going on other orders, plus items I need to make to post, like maternity tops for women, shorts for both men and women, lounge pants for both, Blazers for both… the list currently is endless or seems to be!
I knew that I was meeting some friends and team mates to help set up our booth for the Relay for Life Cancer Event at Quartz Hill High, and though I got there about 15 minutes late, they were just starting to unload their vehicles. It’s an event to look forward to and is the second one I’ve been to in two years now. It’s a lot of fun, entertaining, and educational for those who don’t know a bit about Cancer, and even educational for those that do, while there’s a wide variety of types of Cancer, which I won’t go into!
It generally starts at 7am on Saturday and goes on through Sunday about noon, then everyone left takes down their tents, tables, and whatever else they brought for the event. A lot of fun with entertainment, music, lots of different foods to choose from, while some big outfits like Starbuck’s shows up giving free coffee to everyone there.
The event covers the Quartz Hill High football field and starting in the morning on the very first day – tomorrow – they have a Survivors walk, which thousands participate, then they have other walks during the day with some walks being judged and walkers dressing up to fit the topic of the walk, like what you may look like when you get out of bed, and possibly wearing pajamas. Another is a Patriotic theme with the best look a winner. Just too many to list, but a lot of fun!
I’m getting up early myself so I can be there at 7am to see the event start, while I’m taking my Camera and Camcorder to capture stills in film possibly, but especially digital stills and footage, like I did last year. It’s great to have pictures or a way to show others what an event like that is, so when the following year comes, or they’re in another area or state and hear that one’s going to happen, they’ll know what goes on and can decide if they want to participate or not.
It’s been a real busy and hectic day though, while tomorrow’s going to be worse yet, but a lot of fun!
