Well, it’s an exciting day, but then, what day isn’t?! Got up and knew that my bedding needed to be washed, while I also realized that I needed to start cutting out at least the pattern for making the couch cover that a friend and her roommates accepted me to do.
Got my morning coffee as usual, then stripped my bed realizing that I couldn’t do much with the hallway and bathroom tied up with bedding, since I sleep on a Queen sized bed – hmmm – and with my computer work area on a ‘used’ and ‘inexpensive’ dining room table I got at the local American Way Thrift Store that’s right next to the bed so I can work on it at any time day or night while not having to leave the room. After I got the sheets going, I fed my friend’s birds, then started pulling out patterns to iron so I can cut them in order to use them.
In going downstairs to check the machine and see when the washer was done and load ready to put in the dryer, I noticed that the downstairs couch cover was in bad need of washing, so that’s next on the list of ‘things to do’!
Yeap, it’s gonna be a real busy day! Laundry, sewing, making the bed, cutting out patterns, finishing up on a friend’s Renaissance Bodice, while getting started on the couch cover when I get the pattern cut out, or the curtains out of the two bolts of rayon material for Sheree. I’ve got so much to do as far as sewing goes between my clients and myself that I could sit at my sewing machine for a week straight and still have work to do! No rest or sleep for a week – that’s 168 hours! I’ve got material for summer shorts for myself, though now will be used as well to show my work, while added to my website to sell. And as well, I’m still debating, while so swamped with work and open to even more, about doing the Etsy thing again! I’ve got some samples of my Tea Bag Holders now, while I took some pictures of them with tea bags in and around them so clients will have an idea what they’re for or how they look. I’m also working on a crate for another friend, though the materials are up in Rosamond at the workshop. It’s something like the old wood and wire crates that one use to be able to get with purchases of fruits and vegetables from the local farmers market or produce store. I’m working on one that’s going to have a lid with a choice of leather or metal hinges, while I am going to do some with detailed paintings on the slats, and depending on how difficult, some may have images done with a woodburning tool. I’m really excited, but don’t have near the time I’d like to in order to do as much as I can! Today it’s sewing and cutting patterns mostly, while other days when I can and have the money for fuel, I head to Rosamond to do woodwork.
After cutting out the pattern for the furniture covers (includes small and large couch, loveseat, ottoman, and chair), I then proceeded to get the rayon cut into pieces from a few she had included in a bag for an idea of the size. They were a pain to cut though! I cut what I could for the panels from the one finished piece she sent along as well as some pieces she had already cut, while I also cut some pieces to make the loops to hang them with. It’s not going to be an easy job sewing the panels together, then do a quilting stitch to hold the fronts to the backs, while also having to attach the loops, and I know it’s going to take me at least a full day to get them all done.
By 8:30pm, I was getting tired and ended up quitting for the night, while I know that I’ll possibly be able to do some more on them tomorrow morning and afternoon, or on Sunday after Church. Tomorrow I help set up at 5pm for a ‘Relay For Life’ Cancer Event that’s happening at Quartz Hill High School from Saturday morning through to Sunday afternoon. I was a participant last year and had a blast, while I’m looking forward to it this time as well! Saturday will be tied up since I’ll be spending all day at the event.
